juxtaposition.
–noun 1. | an act or instance of placing close together or side by side, esp. for comparison or contrast. |
2. | the state of being close together or side by side. |
From the
dictionaryFor comparison.
HI.
Well the degree of comparison depends on your method of juxtaposition.
If you put two things which are different to a small extent together, compared to putting two things which are unlimited-ly different together, which do you thing will give you a more obvious contrast?
However this kind of contrast would often lead to stereotype.
Example 1Put me in 3J, and I'd look like some uncouth and uncivilised little girl.
why?
all I need to do is to exclaim wlao or wth and I get weird stares.
I mean after all my class is so guai mah, and I'm not as guai.
It's just a wlao or wth, wait, I only said wt without the h.
but why does that make me seem so uncivilised?
LOL.
okay now put me in 2K, and I'd look really normal.
I'm not saying 2K is uncivilised.
But wth and wlao seems pretty normal mah, even wtf is pretty normal what. (look at the 7 guys)
So does it mean that in 2K, I'm normal, in 3J, I'm uncivilised?
Don't get me wrong.
I love 3J alot.
Really.
The friends that I've made there are really really nice(:
It's just that I want to totally be myself and not get judged based on juxtaposition.
Just because I'm not as guai as the rest of the class O.o
Just because I'm closer to my guides friends who are a bunch of horny and crazy kidds?
So does that make me a traitor?
after all I'm closer to them cos I've spent 2 years with them.
Spent my days and nights with them before. (camps -.-)
Spent my toughest physical times with them before. (PT)
Drew stuff and built things with them before.
Talked and talked and talked with them before.
Teased them loads with their ahems before.
A few examples to cite.
Michelle + _______ and _____
Xin Tian + _______ and ________
Nicholette + _______ and ________ and ______
Weixin + _____ and ______
Crystabelle + _______ and _______
Yiting + ______
Eileen + _______ and _______
Claire + _______ and _______
Tammy + ______
Sally + _____
Can't blame me for wanting to hangout at our parade square territory and talk to them every morning rather than sit inside 3J mah.
Can't blame me for lunch-ing or recess-ing with them what.
Give me some time.
I'll try to be as guai as 3J.
Conclusion: Juxtaposition is NOT an accurate means of judging/catagorising a person yay. You must see the effort that the person is putting in to change herself since she can't change her situation.
